For our third blog post, we were asked to read My Name is Margaret (Maya Angelou) In My Name is Margaret , Margaret was groomed as a servant for a white woman named Mrs.Cullinan, who decides to change Margaret’s name to Mary because it was shorter and more to her convenience. In protest, Margaret decides to break a casserole dish and two green cups in front of Ms.Cullinan and her white associates. After reading this, we were asked to answer the following questions below in around 200 words. I may have gone slightly over for both questions.

I really enjoyed your blog about her breaking the glass and plate. I said yes to the question so it's interesting to see what someone has to say to a No response.

I thought you had some really good arguments for why you disagreed with Margaret's choice. And I appreciate your honesty with your personal story as well.

Your narrative was really moving, almost like a Lifetime Movie. It was also really hard for me to remember a time when I fought back from oppression and the status quo. Your argument about Margaret was pretty solid but I noticed we disagree on the fact that Miss Glory didn't do anything wrong. On the surface level, yes she's a sweetheart and wouldn't hurt a fly, But isn't it wrong to give in and let the system rule your life while you suffer internally? Also Margaret definitely could've handled her situation in a more mature way but the fact is, she was only ten years old; that's how kids show their frustration.
